Prototype design canvas
The Prototype design route is a design workspace. Its canvas presents design pages and editable elements; it is not a live website preview. The canvas can contain multiple desktop, tablet, and mobile pages with independent sizes and positions.
Pages and canvas navigation
Open Layers to select, create, duplicate, rename, or delete a page. Choose a desktop, mobile, or tablet preset when creating a page. Select a page to edit it; drag its artboard to arrange it alongside other pages. Use the canvas zoom and pan controls to navigate a large composition. Keep related breakpoints together so reviewers can compare them.
Insert and edit elements
Use the floating canvas toolbar to choose selection, hand/pan, frame, rectangle, ellipse, text, line, or button tools. Select an element to move or resize it; double-click text or use the Design inspector to edit content. Multi-select elements for shared edits, group related objects, duplicate, delete, align, distribute, or reorder them. Undo and redo operate on local design changes.
Layers
The Layers panel lists pages and their visual objects. Select a row to select the corresponding object. Use visibility and lock controls to manage complex compositions, and layer-order actions to bring an object forward or send it backward. Locked objects cannot be edited until unlocked. Page controls and object controls are separate.
Design inspector
The Design panel exposes the selected page or object's properties. Depending on selection, editable fields can include name, text content, position, size, rotation, fill and gradient, border, radius, opacity, typography, shadow, blur, and blend behavior. Frames can use layout settings such as direction, gap, padding, alignment, and distribution. Not every property applies to every element.
Save and resolve conflicts
Watch the canvas save indicator. Wait for saved state before navigating away. If another edit creates a conflict, reload the latest design and reapply your change rather than overwriting unseen work. Design access may be read-only for members without edit permission.
